One of my favorite Philly things

Today, July 26, was a lovely day, so I decided that it would be a great idea to take the ten mile hike that I love to do – from the Academy of Art in center city Philly up to the other end of the Wissahickon Trail. Half the distance of this hike is along the part of the Schuylkill River which is famous for its longboat races, so I was almost overrun by bicyclers and joggers as well as long boaters preparing for their races. However as I went up the Wissahickon river and the day got hotter, the joggers petered out. I know the part of the trail nearer the end much better, so the last several miles I took the off-the-beaten-path trails that were less traveled and gloriously beautiful. It is such a blessing to be near such easily accessible beauty. For a map of the Wissahickon Park, see http://wissahickontrailclassic.org/pics/wtc-map-large.jpg.
